Today the Association's membership, comprised of living recipients of the awards, is a fraction of what it was when the Association first came into being in the 1950s. However, the number of Collective Awards members has increased, with the Royal Ulster Constabularly having received the George Cross in 1999 and most recently, the National Health Services of the UK in July 2021. Of the individual holders, 8 are recipients of the VC and the others are recipients of the GC, one of whom was awarded the Albert Medal which was translated to the GC in 1971. 5 VC holders and 2 GC holders live outside the UK.
