In the aftermath of the Russian evacuation of Sevastopol, and probably at some time between 25 and 30 September 1855, Private G Strong, Coldstream Guards, removed a live shell from the British trenches.

Citation

 For having, when on duty in the trenches in the month of September 1855, removed a live shell from the place where it had fallen.
