L Cpl AL Lewis VC was local to Hereford - to date the county's only county-born Victoria Cross recipient. The County Council, supported by his granddaughter, made it their mission to publicly recognise their local gallant VC. A life-sized statue was therefore commissioned and unveiled on the centenary of his VC action. The VC and GC Association were very pleased to have been able to contribute to this.
