This headstone was in need of a good clean and the raised lead lettering needed to be repainted. This was done, but the water had permeated the stone, streaking it, as can be seen where it is lighter in colour. Unfortunately this cannot be remedied but the stone is otherwise solid and in very good condition and it can now proudly tell of the final resting place of the gallant William McWheeney VC.
